Palatine Township Seeks Donors for Adopt a Family Program

Residents and businesses are invited to help make the holiday season a little bit brighter by providing gifts for those less fortunate.

Palatine Township’s Adopt-A-Family program helps the holiday season to be a little bit brighter for low income families living in the Township. The program connects these families with generous donors in the community who help to fulfill their holiday wishes.

Donors provide a range of items for these families in-need, including toys, gifts and new clothing. Gift cards are requested for adults so they are able to purchase needed items for the household such as food, clothing and toiletries. Families assisted through the Adopt-A-Family program remain confidential; donors are provided only with the number of family members and their holiday wish lists.

During last year’s program, 213 families were adopted and dozens of the recipients reached out to the Township afterwards to express their thanks and appreciation for the gifts they received—which went far beyond the materials ones wrapped up under the Christmas tree. Please see just a few of the excerpts from their letters to the Township, below:

“My son loved his gift, and I love the clothes you gave my baby girl. Have a wonderful merry Christmas and a happy new year!” wrote Family 2-G.

The requested gift value for family members is between $50-$75 so that giving is even for all recipients. Once donors have signed up to adopt a family, they are provided with the holiday wish lists and assigned a specific donation drop-off time on Saturday, December 14.

Individuals, families, clubs, churches, businesses and organizations are invited to make a difference in the lives of others this holiday season through this annual giving program. Donors can sign up at PalatineTownship-il.gov/adopt-a-family/ no later than Thursday, November 1, 2019.
