Palatine Township Seeks Nominations, Donors for Annual Easter Basket Program

Township residents can nominate in-need children 10 years of age or younger, and residents, churches and other organizations can donate.

With spring slightly more than a month away, planning for Palatine Township’s annual Easter Basket program is now in full swing.

Township residents who would like to create Easter Baskets for in-need children are being sought. Program registration begins February 22 and donors will receive their recipient’s information after March 2. Baskets for donation are due back to the Township on March 14.

Nominations are also being accepted for children living in the Township who are 10 years of age or younger and whose families are experiencing hardship. Self nominations are not permitted and nominations do not guarantee program eligibility. Nominee information should be emailed to Sljohnson@PalatineTownship.com and the deadline is March 7.

“Easter can be a joyous time as children eagerly await a visit from the Easter bunny, but hundreds of kids who live in our Township aren’t able to have that experience due to financial challenges,” said Sharon Langlotz-Johnson, Palatine Township Supervisor. “The Easter Basket program connects member of our community to these children to help provide them with an Easter basket of their own.”

This year, Langlotz-Johnson says the Township has increased the number of children it can serve to 450, which doubles the number of those served in 2015.
