Quest Academy Hosts STEAM Day for Prospective Students

Quest invites prospective students to STEAM Day.

Quest Academy, an independent private school with a mission to meet the needs of gifted students, is hosting a STEAM Day for prospective students for ages 4 -12 on Sunday, May 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. STEAM education incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.

“There is a new focus in education, designed to give students the experience and skills to both formulate new ideas and solve complex problems by involving them in the STEAM disciplines, preferably in a wholly integrated manner,” says Dan Rezac, Director of Academic Technology and a Google Certified Teacher. “This education is a prerequisite to be prepared for future jobs, many of which do not exist today.”

In 2013, Quest Academy opened its Innovation Lab – a high-tech technology lab featuring powerful computers and accessories such as a 3D Printer, laser cutter, tinkering tools (i.e. circuit boards, soldering stations, etc.).

The STEAM Day will feature opportunities for prospective students to visit several stations such as animation, laser cutting, Makedo creations, circuit art, and an actual star lab in which students may experience looking at stars and planets in a night sky.

“Students should be able to make connections with how the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, art, and math interrelate,” said Rezac. “It will be a great day for kids to satisfy curiosities and awaken new ones.”
