Quest Academy Scholastic Bowl Team Wins State Championship

Congratulations to the Quest Academy Scholastic Bowl team on capturing 1st place in the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Class A State Scholastic Bowl Tournament on Friday, May 8! After four rounds of competition at the Civic Center in Peoria, our team emerged victorious as the State Champions. Our coach, families, and school are so proud of how well students played through the IESA State Series! Our team has advanced to the State Tournament the past several years. Quest Academy was the Class A State Champion in both 2011 and 2013.

We want to congratulate team members: Elizabeth A., Audrey B., Jackson D., Matthew G., Rachna G., Sonya G., Jeevan K., Nikita K., Connor L., Aubrey L., Jacob L., Max L., Avani M., Vikram M., Arjun N., Vikas R., Rose R., Brennan Z., and Nicholas Z., as well as Coach Lisa Groh. “I couldn’t be prouder of how our team has improved this year, and of their consistently outstanding sportsmanship,” said Coach Groh.

Mrs. Groh has been coaching Scholastic Bowl at Quest Academy since 2009, for students in grades 5th through 8th. We were fortunate to have 12 returning players that are seasoned in Scholastic Bowl. In addition, we have state-winning Quest alums (and also previous co-captains) that have volunteered to help their Alma Mater by Assistant Coaching our team for practices, workshops, matches, and tournaments. These alums are: Colin Groh ‘13, Selena Groh ‘11 and Alex Li ‘13.

Our Mission: Quest Academy provides gifted children with a challenging curriculum and a nurturing environment. Our program emphasizes sound character along with scholarship and creativity in both the academics and the arts. The Quest community values the individuality of each child and encourages each to strive for personal excellence.
