Restoring the Magic of Christmas, in Palatine

When your kindergartner comes home and questions the existence of Santa Claus, action may need to be taken.

A 6-year-old Palatine kindergartner recently came home from school, and point blank asked his parents, “Is there really a Santa Claus?”

The parents, of course, were shocked and a little uncertain how to handle the milestone question that came earlier than anticipated. But then, quick thinking on the father’s part was the beginning of a plan to prove that Santa was indeed, real.

“Of course he’s real, why do you ask?” the mother said.

“One of my friends at school told me that Santa was not real,” the little guy said.

The father knew that their neighborhood banker, who helps Santa out each year by visiting the little kids at Palatine Bank and Trust and the American Legion, was going to be at the Legion the following Saturday visiting with children to hear all about what they wanted for Christmas.

A ‘request’ was made that Santa himself forward the little boy’s Santa letter to the neighborhood banker, who in turn, produced it when the little guy came up to sit on his lap.

The size of those eyes!!

“Where did you get that letter? We mailed that to Santa...I guess you really are Santa!” the little guy said.

His mother and father looked on, content with the knowledge that the magic of Christmas was restored, at least for a little while....
