Rotary Club of Palatine's Oktoberfest a Huge Success
The Rotary Club of Palatine's 8th Annual Oktoberfest was a huge success for the entire community to partake in German food and beverages.

The Rotary Club of Palatine’s 8th Annual Oktoberfest, which was held in September, was a huge success for the entire community. Families and individuals of all ages came out to enjoy this exciting affair to partake in authentic German food, beverages, and entertainment.
“The numbers are still being finalized, but we know that we will have a significant amount of money to be donated back to local charities and the community,” said Cindy Stoeckel, festival co-chair. “Beer sales on Saturday and Sunday did very well, as did our Family Day attendance with attractions which included a Balloon Artist, along with Police and Fire Department displays.”
The Rotary Club of Palatine would like to thank all of its sponsors, vendors, and local merchants who contributed to Oktoberfest. “Without the support of our sponsors, vendors, and local merchants Oktoberfest would not be possible,” stated Dr. Robert Steinberg, festival co-chair. “The donations and support from these businesses are critical to our success. For example, last year part of the money that we raised went to the construction of Rotary Plaza – which is at the corner of Plum Grove and Palatine Roads.”
Over 150 Local businesses contribute to the Rotary’s famous Raffle Baskets, with a combined total of $66,000 worth of products donated. “Every year our club assembles approximately 25 raffle baskets, and is one of our largest fundraisers of Oktoberfest,” explained Ed Fee, festival co-chair. “Everyone loves these baskets as there are so many to choose from – wine baskets, golf baskets, to rum baskets – there is something for everyone!”
The Rotary Club of Palatine’s Allocation Committee will start accepting applications from 501 C (3) organizations within the local area early next year. This is when the Rotary Club decides who will benefit from the funds raised from Oktoberfest.
The Rotary motto is Service Above Self — in the community, and throughout the world. The Rotary Club of Palatine meets every Tuesday at 7:15 AM at the Red Apple Pancake House. All are welcome to attend. Email info@palatinerotary.com for details.
