Right before the school year ended, Sanborn School PTA partnered with Downtown Palatine Business Association to highlight student artwork.

Just before school let out, the Gray M. Sanborn Elementary School PTA, led by incoming PTA Co-President Jody Neiman and Member Janet Gow, presented the 1st annual Sanborn School Art Walk in downtown Palatine. The PTA partnered with the Downtown Palatine Business Association (DPBA) for the event held on May 30th.

Despite the rainy morning, more than 60 parents and students, along with Principal Jeff Brown and other school staff, participated in the walk. Several downtown Palatine businesses who are members of the DPBA allowed the PTA to display artwork from students for all participants to view at each location.

Each participant visited the businesses, which included Chandelier Boutique, Salon MMM, Arete Salon and Spa, Sweet C’s Bakery, Cook, Cork and Fork, Harrington Manor, Foxglove Cottage and The Music Room, where artwork was displayed and passports were stamped - to qualify each attendee to win a number of raffle prizes. The event ended at Smith Street Station (connected to Durty Nellie’s) where everyone gathered for lunch and the awarding of raffle prizes.

Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz, who is a Sanborn Elementary School alumni, attended to support the event and was presented with two framed works of art created by Sanborn students.

“We are thrilled at the success of this first year event,” Neiman said. “Despite the dreary weather, we had so many parents and students take time out of a busy Saturday morning to support our students and their beautiful artwork.”
