Sunday deadline to participate in St. Patrick's Day Celebration
'Paint the Town Green' St. Patrick's Day celebration will be accepting parade and Irish Market entry applications through Sunday.

The organizers of the 6th Annual ‘Paint the Town Green’ St. Patrick’s Day celebration will be accepting parade and Irish Market entry applications through Sunday, January 31st for the Saturday, March 19th celebration which will be held in downtown Palatine.
Applications for entry in the parade and Irish market are being accepted through January 31st and are available at www.stpatspalatine.com. A limited amount of openings are available for the Irish market on a first come first served basis. “This is one of the very few St. Patrick’s Day parades and celebrations in the Chicago area,” said event coordinator, Liz Noe of ElizEvents. “I’m also excited to announce that this year’s celebration also serves as a kick-off event for the 150 year anniversary of the Village of Palatine!”
Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are available for interested area businesses. Sponsorships start at $25.00 and will be accepted through February 12th. Details are available at www.stpatspalatine.com. Current sponsors include Durty Nellie’s, the Daily Herald Media Group, Pan American Bank, Complete Lawn and Snow Removal Services, Eastern Illinois University, Palatine Park District and the Law Office of Mark J. Watychowicz, P.C. “This event would not be possible without financial support from the community,” said Noe. “From $25.00 to $1,000.00, all participation levels help assure there will be a parade and market for years to come.”
The festivities will begin with an Irish Market under a tent outside of Durty Nellie’s located at 180 North Smith Street in downtown Palatine and run from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The parade, which begins at 11:00 AM, as well as the Irish market will serve to collect food, clothing and donations for Journeys the Road Home, an organization serving the homeless and near-homeless in the north and northwest suburbs. The parade begins at the corner of Wood and Oak Streets in downtown Palatine and continues west on Wood to Brockway and north to Colfax.
“Entertainment is being planned at a number of local businesses, bars and restaurants throughout the day for both Paint the Town Green and Palatine’s 150th birthday,” said Noe. “A full schedule of events will be released in early February. These events are a great way for the public to get to know our local merchants.”
