Violent Crime Increases in Palatine: FBI Report

The FBI recently released its annual ”Crime in the United States” report, which includes information about Palatine.

According to the report, Palatine saw 36 violent crimes in 2014. Violent crime includes offenses involving force or the threat of force: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, according to the FBI. In 2013, there were 33 reports of violent crimes in the village.

Of the violent crimes in 2014, there were three murders, six rapes, six robberies and 21 aggravated assaults. Other crime stats for Palatine include 623 property crimes, 34 burglaries, 569 reports of larceny/theft and two reports of arson.

Nationally, violent crime decreased last year by 0.2 percent from 2013, according to the report.
