Wanted Man Caught With Fake ID In Car Rental Attempt: Cops

Police say it took a fingerprint analysis to determine it was Michael Moss who tried to rent a car with a fake ID in Palatine.

PALATINE, IL - A south suburban man faces multiple charges after police say he tried to use a "questionable" credit card and a fake driver's license in an attempt to rent a car in Palatine on Tuesday. Palatine police say Michael Moss, 24, of Country Club Hills was charged with unlawful use of a fraudulent driver's license and obstructing identification after they responded to the 2000 block of North Rand Road after 5 p.m. on a call of someone attempting to rent a vehicle.

When a police officer asked Moss for identification, police say he showed them a Pennsylvania driver's licence "that was quickly determined to be fraudulent." He is then accused of giving the officer at the scene a different name and date of birth that wasn't his.

It wasn't until a fingerprint analysis was completed when police identified Moss, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Will County for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving with a suspended license.
