Woman Dies After Jumping From Van On I-90: Police
A 27-year-old woman is dead following the incident along Interstate 90 on Thanksgiving.
ROSEMONT, IL — A 27-year-old West Virginia woman died after jumping from a moving vehicle on Interstate 90 on Thanksgiving. Emily Newton, of Barboursville, West Virginia, was in the front passenger seat of a Chrysler Pacifica, which was headed east on I-90 at milepost 76.75 in Rosemont, when she opened her door and jumped out, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.
Newton was not hit by any passing vehicles but sustained severe head trauma when she hit the roadway, authorities said. She was rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries following the incident that happened at 2:53 p.m. Thursday.
She was later pronounced dead while surrounded by family, according to the news release.
