2 Dead After Wrong-Way Crash on Route 53 in Rolling Meadows (UPDATED)
A vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes early Tuesday morning when it slammed into 2 other vehicles.

ROLLING MEADOWS, IL — Illinois State Police have released the names of individuals involved in Tuesday's morning fatal accident along Route 53.
The two drivers who died were:
- Zachary Sipe, 21, of Mount Prospect, driver of the 2014 Toyota
- Peter Wierzbicki, 64, of Lisle, driver of the 2006 Toyota taxi
Jarrod Oden, 43, of Palatine, was the driver of the 2010 Chevrolet. His condition was not released by state police.

ROLLING MEADOWS, IL — Two people were killed Tuesday after being hit by a driver traveling the wrong way along Illinois Route 53, near Euclid Avenue, in Rolling Meadows, according to the Illinois State Police.
The accident happened around 3:56 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, when a 2014 Toyota was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 53, state police said. The Toyota first struck a 2010 Chevrolet—driven by Jarrod Oden, 43, of Palatine, according to police—in a head-on collision, then continued and hit a 2006 Toyota taxi head-on, as well.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene and another was pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to the Chicago Tribune. The condition of anyone else involved in the accident is still unknown as police continue to investigate the incident.
The accident also is keeping all lanes of traffic closed for about three hours this morning, according to police.
