1 Person Pulled From Sub-Basement In Palos Hills House Fire

Police and firefighters pulled a person trapped in a house fire, and rescure two others in house fire early Tuesday moning.

PALOS HILLS, IL -- Palos Hills police helped four people out of home that was on fire early Tuesday morning. The cause is still under investigation.

Officers were already on the scene, when the North Palos Fire Protection District arrived around 2 a.m. Tuesday to find heavy flames showing in a single-family home. Firefighters learned there was another person trapped inside the house. With the assistance of Palos Hills police, the trapped person was located and pulled from a sub-basement window.

A resident who lived in the home reportedly jumped out a window and flagged down a citizen for help, who called 911.

Crews quickly began extinguishing the fire and searching the home for occupants. The alarm was elevated to a Box Alarm in which several area fire departments responded.

The person in the basement and another occupant were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. One of the people was stable but in critical condition, fire officials said. Two other occupants were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Two Palos Hills police officers were also taken to Palos Community Hospital, where they were treated and released for smoke inhalation. None of the injuries appears to be life-threatening.
