10 more Stagg Chargers commit to play at college level

Brings this year's total to 19 student athletes playing collegiately

Stagg High School celebrated the signings of 10 more Chargers who will continue in their sports at the college level. This brings the total to 19 student-athletes to commit during the 2014-15 school year.

Gianna Petrelli will run track for DePauw University next fall as she pursues a degree in Chemistry - Pre-Med. She is a four-year Varsity member of the Girls Track & Field team. She graduates with a total 11 school records. In the indoor season, she holds the Frosh/Soph record in all four individual sprinting events and was a part of the Varsity School Record holding 4x200m Relay team. For the outdoor season, she holds the Frosh/Soph record in two sprinting events and two relay teams and is a part of the Varsity School Record holding 4x100m Relay and 4x200m Relay teams. She is a State Qualifier in the 4x100m Relay.

Angelica Boyd plans to continue her track career at Heidelberg University next fall as she pursues a degree in Athletic Training. She is a four-year Varsity member of the Chargers’ Girls Track and Field team. She holds two Indoor school records at the Varsity level. She holds the Varsity indoor season record in the 55m High Hurdles and was a part of the Varsity school record holding 4x160m Relay team.

Samantha Owens will play softball at Moraine Valley Community College and then she plans to attend Aurora University to study Education and become a Physical Education teacher. She has been a four-year Varsity starter for the Charger softball program. As a first basemen, she was All-Conference her sophomore and junior year as well as team MVP in her junior season.

Alexis Minet will play softball at Robert Morris University where she plans to study Business. She has been a four-year Varsity starter for the softball program. She has played outfield as well as handled the pitching duties for the Chargers. In her junior season, she was named MVP by her teammates.

Nellie Bonham will continue her track career at Valparaiso University next fall as she pursues a degree in English. She is a four-year Varsity member of the Chargers’ Girls Track and Field team. She holds the Indoor School Record for the Shot Put at the Frosh/Soph and Varsity level. She holds the Outdoor School Record for the Shot Put at the Frosh/Soph level.

Jeffrey Goral will play basketball at Hope College in the fall. He is a three-year Varsity player and two-year Varsity starter for the Chargers. He won a combined 55 games over three years, was All-Conference and All-Area in 2015.

Mitchell Spencer will attend DePauw University in the fall and play baseball. He is a two-year Varsity player for the Chargers. In addition to baseball, he was a member of the golf team.

Zackary Amendola will swim at the University of Redlands in California where he will major in Business. a four-year Varsity swimmer, he qualified for State three years. He holds two Conference titles and four Sectional titles and placed eight, ninth, eleventh and fourteenth at State.

Evan Johnson will swim at the University of Illinois Chicago in the fall. He is a four-year Varsity swimmer for the Chargers and qualified for State two years. He holds four Conference titles and four Sectional titles. He placed eighth, ninth, eleventh and sixteenth at State.

Brett Stratinsky will play baseball at McHenry Community College in the fall. He is a four-year Varsity player for Charger baseball. He also played basketball for four years and competed in golf at Stagg.
