3 Palos Park Police Cadets Receive Youth Service Medal from Sheriff
Andrei Lynch, Logan Maske and Don Murphy were honored Tuesday evening.
Palos Park Police Cadets Andrei Lynch, Logan Maske and Don Murphy received Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart’s 2014 Youth Service Medal of Honor for their work in the community.
Cadets Lynch, Maske and Murphy all one day hope to be police officers for the village. Cadet Maske was joined by his brother Palos Park Officer Jeremy Maske, a former PPPD cadet.
Chief Joe Miller said, “I think they definitely represent what this award is about, and they represent this Police Department and the cadet program in the highest way possible. It is an honor to work with them, they truly are the future of policing, bright, well spoken, caring, service orientated and shining examples that teens can be involved and make a difference in their communities.”

The three cadets were joined at the event by Mayor John Mahoney, WGN Reporter Gaynor Hall and teens from all over Cook County. Over 200 Cook County teens were honored for their service to the community.
The criteria for the sheriff’s medal program required that honorees put in a minimum of 100 hours of community service over the course of a year. Most teens in the PPPD Cadet program average 500 + hours in the cadet program.
