WORTH, IL—A massive water main break in Worth has put the village under a 24-hour boil order, causing the water system to be shut down so repairs could be made.
The village has submitted a water sample for bacteriological testing and is waiting for confirmation that the water is safe for drinking.
The boil advisory will remain in effect for the next 24 hours Worth residents should boil water from the tap for at least five minutes before using it for cooking, drinking, food preparation, washing dishes or brushing teeth.
Should certified lab results require additional testing, residents will be notified of a boil advisory extension.
