Green Hills Public Library District Seeks Applicants To Fill Board Vacancy

PALOS HILLS, IL—The Green Hills Public Library District Board of Trustees is currently seeking qualified and community-minded individuals to fill a vacancy on the Library Board. The Board will appoint a trustee to serve until the next consolidated election in April 2027.

Library trustees play a vital governance role within the community. Key responsibilities include:

• Establishing and supporting policies that govern library operations.
• Exercising fiduciary responsibility through sound fiscal management.
• Participating in long-range planning to meet the evolving needs of the community.
• Serving as a strong advocate for the Library and its patrons.

Regular meetings of the Board take place on the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m., except for the January meeting, which is held on the fourth Monday. Additional special meetings may be called as needed in accordance with board bylaws.

Pursuant to the Public Library District Act of 1991, 75 ILCS 16/30-20 (d) and (e), applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Reside within the Green Hills Public Library District boundaries for at least one year.
• Be a registered voter.
• Not be in arrears on the payment of a tax or other indebtedness due to the Library District.
• Not have been convicted in any court in the United States of any crime, e.g.,bribery, perjury, or other felony.
