JEWEL-OSCO, a leading Midwest food and pharmacy retailer, has begun construction on a new store that will eventually replace the retailer’s current supermarket at 7127 W. 127th St., in Palos Heights, Ill.
The replacement store will be more than 55,000 square feet, making it much larger than the current Palos Heights JEWEL-OSCO, which, for customer convenience, will remain open during the construction process. The replacement store is being built directly behind the current location and is scheduled to open next summer.
“We are constantly updating and rebuilding stores to better serve our customers,” said JEWEL-OSCO President Brian Huff. “Once we have finished this project, we will be able to provide our Palos Heights customers expanded services and a greater product selection.”

The replacement store will have a more modern décor than the current Palos Heights JEWEL-OSCO, which opened in 1967, and it will offer the departments and services customers have come to expect from their neighborhood JEWEL-OSCO, including:
- Chef’s Kitchen for traditional deli selections
- FarmStand produce
- Butcher Block premium meat department
- Pier 14 for fresh seafood
- Dairy and frozen product sections
- Bake Shop
- Floral department
- Liquor department
- Full-service pharmacy
- TCF Bank branch
“We are very pleased that a longtime business resident of Palos Heights has seen the advantage of expanding here,” said Palos Heights Mayor Robert Straz. ”We look forward to the substantial improvement and potential economic boost that this exciting development will bring to the city.”
