“This is an outstanding honor for Bob, his team at Andrew, and all of us who work with him here in District 230,” said Superintendent Dr. James M. Gay. “Bob provides collaborative leadership that empowers and challenges teachers and staff to provide the best possible learning experience for students. His focus always remains on providing an education that prepares students for their future.”

Nolting joined District 230 in 2004 as Associate Principal at Andrew High School. In 2006, he moved to Sandburg High School as Associate Principal where he served the Eagles until being named Principal of Andrew High School in 2009. Prior to joining District 230, he was a social studies teacher and athletics/activities director in Wisconsin.

Outside of school, Nolting serves as the District 3 Representative on the IHSA Board of Control. During the 2013-14 school year, he was President of the SWSC Conference Principals Board of Control. In 2012, he presented at the IPA State Conference regarding “Connecting Your Community.”

According to the IPA, three individuals sent letters of recommendation for Nolting. While all commented on different aspects of his leadership, they all agreed their experience has been one of collaboration, respect and inspiration. One administrator said, “He empowers individuals within a collaborative culture to grow as professionals and to let their abilities shine.” A former student summarized, “Mr. Nolting is more than a principal, he is a man with an unconditional loving heart for his students and staff, and he is a glow of confidence and an inspiration to better yourself in every way!”

The awards program annually recognizes outstanding high school leaders who have succeeded in providing high quality learning opportunities for students. The program recognizes high school principals who have demonstrated that they excel in making a positive impact on education and advocacy for children, ensuring a positive school climate, taking risks to improve student learning, working collaboratively with teachers and staff, and involving the community in the school.
