Arrest Warrant Issued for Gutter Worker Accused in Baseball Bat Beating
Palos Hills police are looking for second suspect believed to be involved in beating of man earlier this month.

PALOS HILLS, IL -- Police were in court Wednesday seeking an arrest warrant for a 32-year-old gutter worker said to be involved in the beating of a Palos Hills man earlier this month.
A detective told Cook County Judge Peter Felice that Metrikis Zygimantas was the second man identified in an ambush that took place outside a residence in the 0-20 block of Cour Montreal the evening of Oct. 2.
According to the allegations, Zygimantas and Laimis Stanevicius, 31, lured the man out of his house by placing a call to his wife using a fake Lithuanian name. Stanevicius, who has already been charged in the beating, smashed a beer bottle over the man’s head.

The detective said that Zygimantas swung a baseball bat into the back of the man’s head. The blows from both accoutrements put the man in the hospital with a severe bleeding on the brain.

The injured man was able to identify Zygimantas from a photograph. The injured man and alleged assailants know each other, the detective said.
Palos Hills police have gone to Zygimantas’s last known address several times but haven’t been able to find him. They’ve also left messages on his cell phone.
“Nobody knows where he works because he fixes gutters for a living and goes to different addresses,” the detective said in court.
According to the detective, the injured man is out of the hospital and recovering.
Judge Felice issued an arrest warrant for $50,000 on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated robbery causing great bodily harm.
