The Palos South Band, Stagg High School Pom Squad, and Fun, Fun, Fun DJs provided entertainment on the school grounds while kids worked up their appetites dancing, sliding, and participating in hula-hoop, limbo, and sack races. Picnic-goers also enjoyed face-painting, balloon animals, and other games. Complimentary popcorn, soda, water, and slushies were offered. Local vendors including Hunan Inn, Lions Club, Tastee Freeze, Caprio Pizza, and Aramark, sold a variety of items; chinese fare, corn on the cob, ice cream, pizza, chips, and hotdogs. Lucky winners of the cake walk took home treats donated by district parents and the Orland Park Bakery.
The picnic was a joint effort of the Palos 118 Board of Education, district staff, the Parent Faculty Association, and the Educational Foundation. Local fire and police departments were also in attendance to show their support. District schools include Palos East and West Elementary Schools, and Palos South Middle School.
