Did You Know Your Library Offers This?

Did you know that you can download eBooks from your local library?  Green Hills has four eBook platforms for you to browse and checkout.  You can do this all in the comfort of your own home and never have to worry about overdue fines.  No eReader?  No problem.  We have eReaders available for checkout, all preloaded with bestselling fiction and nonfiction for adults, teens, and children.  What about those who do have an eReader but have no idea how to use it?  I have good news for you!  Our Digital Lab Technician, Ryan Blake, is available for one-on-one training sessions for eReader/eBook help. 

Have you heard about the Digital Lab?  Or are you wondering, 'What is the Digital Lab?'  The Digital Lab opened at the Green Hills Public Library in September 2011.  In this space, patrons can creatively express themselves using various programs on a Mac computer.  Whether you would like to shoot and edit a film, produce a song, or create print materials, it can all be done in the Digital Lab.  We have a green screen, guitar, keyboard, microphone, and many programs that will help you complete media projects for personal or business use. 

Looking to freshen up your computer skills?  Or are you interested in a cake decorating class?  The Library now offers Universal Class.  This service has over 500 continuing education courses for you to take entirely online.  Classes can be accessed 24/7 from home or at the Library.  And every class has a real, live instructor!

Are you a movie buff?  If you have ever visited Green Hills, you would have noticed our extensive collection of DVDs and BluRays.  Now, you can bring the film festival home with IndieFlix.  This new service provided by the Library gives you unlimited access to Award-winning independent movies, shorts, documentaries, and web series.

Do you love music?  With your library card, you can download up to three songs every week through Freegal.  Hundreds of thousands of songs are available through the Sony Music Entertainment catalog.  Once you download a song, you keep it forever!  It may sound too good to be true, but it's not!  There are over 100 genres of music and more than 50 record labels all without any digital rights management (DRM) issues.
