Terrible Accident at corner of 122nd & 69th Ave. No stop signs where children live
Terrible Accident with flipped over car at 122nd and 69th Ave in Palos Heights. No stop signs at intersection the problem.
There was an accident this afternoon at 3:08 pm at the corners of 122nd St. and 69th Ave. 2 cars collided and one flipped over 3 times. There are no stop signs at this corner. There are 12 kids who live within 8 houses of this intersection, 2 of them being mine. There are 2 bus stops at this corner, the first one drops off at 3:10 from Navajo and the second drops off at 3:15 from Chippewa. Since it has gotten nice out the kids usually stay outside and play for a while. You can imagine how all of the parents felt when they heard, some seeing but we all ran outside in fear when we heard the horrible noise. I have pictures of the accident that I would like to share and would greatly appreciate if you posted to emphasize the importance of not only the safety of our children but also the safety of the people driving through our neighborhoods. There have been 6 accidents at this corner over the last 8 years. The cars ALWAYS end up in the lawn of one of the corner houses. The residents of our block will be attending the necessary meetings to try and get stop signs on all four corners but the more awareness to this issue the better. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Kipp
