Bunch of DUIs, A/C Units Stolen: Blotter

FRIDAY, FEB. 5

DUI

John Satala, 48, of Palos Hills, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit and driving without a license after a Feb. 5 traffic stop, according to Palos Hills police reports.

Police pulled over Satala at 6 p.m. in the 10300 block of Alta Drive because his vehicle didn’t have a rear license plate attached, the report stated. The vehicle’s temporary Indiana plate, however, was propped up in the tinted rear window, the report added.

During the stop, police reported detecting an odor of alcohol on Satala’s breath and noticing his speech was slurred. Satala also told police that he didn’t have valid license, and he failed field sobriety tests, the report added.

Satala’s court date is March 4.

THURSDAY, FEB. 4

A/C Units Stolen

Two central air-conditioning units were reported stolen from a home being refurbished in the 9700 block of 90th Avenue, according to Palos Hills police reports.

The owner of the house noticed the units missing about five or eight weeks ago, the report stated. The owner also didn’t know who might have taken them, the report added.

THURSDAY, JAN. 28

DUI

Kurt Kousnetz, 48, of Oak Lawn, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving with a suspended license, improper lane use and driving without insurance after a Jan. 28 traffic stop, according to Palos Hills police reports.

Police noticed Kousnetz driving from lane to lane at about midnight while traveling eastbound in the 8100 block of 103rd Street, the report stated. During the stop, a strong alcohol odor was detected on Kousnetz’s breath, his speech was slurred, and his eyes were red, the report added.

An open bottle of vodka was found in Kousnetz’s vehicle, and he failed a field sobriety test, the report stated.

Koursnetz’s court date is March 23.

SATURDAY, JAN. 23

DUI

Jan Janik, 38, of Burbank, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and improper lane use after a Jan. 23 traffic stop, according to Palos Hills police reports.

Police pulled over Janik at about 6 p.m. for swerving out of his lane as he traveled southbound near the 10400 block of Harlem Avenue, the report stated. During the stop, police detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Janik, and he failed field sobriety tests, the report added.

Janik’s court date is March 4.

DUI

Emily Watson, 27, of Palos Hills, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving without insurance and improper lane use after a Jan. 23 traffic stop, according to Palos Hills police reports.

Police responded to a disturbance call at about 8:30 p.m. at Zante’s Lounge, 10307 S. Roberts Road, and were told Watson was driving from the bar in an intoxicated state, the report stated. Watson was followed by police as she traveled westbound on 111th Street and swerved into the oncoming lane, the report added.

When police pulled her over, an officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from Watson, whose speech was mumbled, the report stated. She also failed field sobriety tests, the report added.

Watson’s court dates is Feb. 11.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 20

Disabled Parking Placard Stolen

A disabled parking placard was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 7600 block of 111th Street on Jan. 15, according to Palos Hills police reports.
