Call For Entries For 2019 Juried Community Art Exhibit At MVCC

PALOS HILLS, IL -- Area residents are invited to submit artwork for consideration in the summer 2019 juried exhibition at Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills.

Artwork can be brought to the Robert F. DeCaprio Gallery inside the Fine and Performing Arts Center (FPAC), Building F, on Monday, May 20, and Tuesday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Artists will be notified of acceptance by May 24. The entry fee is $15 per artwork with a maximum submission of two per person.

To be eligible for consideration, artists must be at least 18 years or older living within a 50-mile radius of the college. All work must be original, not submitted in previous years and must have been created no earlier than 2014.

Submissions can be in any fine art media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, printmaking, ceramics, metal, sculpture and mixed media. All works must be ready to hang. Photography or artwork on paper must be framed under glass or Plexiglas. Two-dimensional work should not exceed 48 inches by 48 inches and three-dimensional work should not weigh more than 100 pounds.

The community artist juried exhibition will open on June 3 and close on Aug. 1. A reception and awarding of prizes will be on Saturday, June 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. Awards will include first, second and third places, plus three honorable mentions.

The Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery is a meeting ground for Moraine Valley students, community members and the contemporary art world. Its mission is to present significant works through exhibitions and programming by local, national and international artists. Exhibits are free and open to the public. Summer hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and during most FPAC performances. For more information, contact the Box Office at (708) 974-5500.
