Chicago Dancing Festival 2013 ticket release this week

The Chicago Dancing Festival 2013 is a free, five-day event showcasing the best dance talent from across the country. This year the Chicago Dancing Festival has an amazingly diverse line-up including Chicago-based and national dance companies. In anticipation of this week's free ticket release, I asked Camille A. Brown from Camille A. Brown & Dancers about her dance company's participation in the Chicago Dancing Festival.

"This will be the first time I am performing my own work in Chicago (I performed there while dancing with Ronald K. Brown/Evidence), so to return now as a choreographer (introducing my voice as a creator) is going to be very special," said Brown. "Every time I perform or show my work it's an opportunity to connect with first time viewers. After these performances, I hope the Chicago community is interested in getting to know my work further."

What would you would like people to know who may be seeing you for the first time to know about your dance style? "I combine all styles – Modern, Hip-Hop, African, Tap, Jazz and Ballet and am heavily inspired by theater. I absolutely love delving into history and do a lot character work. I find becoming characters and investigating every aspect of them fascinating," said Brown. "I used to play the clarinet and have always loved playing with rhythmic phrasing, so music is the heart of my work."

This week tickets for the Chicago Dancing Festival 2013 are released on a staggered schedule. While all shows are free, you do need to have a ticket to attend at these three venues. There are different dates/times/contacts for each ticket release. If the experience from previous years hold true this year, these tickets will be gone quickly. Here's the schedule for this week:
