Democratic Cook County Board Candidate Denounces KKK Posters
Democratic Cook County Board candidate Abdelnasser Rashid calls out GOP Commissioner Sean Morrison to condemn KKK fliers.

After KKK posters were distributed in Tinley Park, Cook County Board candidate Abdelnasser Rashid calls on incumbent Republican Commissioner Sean Morrison to join him in condemning hate. Following is a statement from independent Democratic 17th District Cook County Commissioner candidate Rashid, calling on Morrison to take a stand against hatred and stand up against KKK posters distributed in Tinley Park.
“The distribution of Ku Klux Klan posters in Tinley Park was an inexcusable act of hate. I stand strongly against any forms of discrimination or intimidation in our communities.
“I thank the public officials and police department of Tinley Park for denouncing these acts of putting a plan in action to remedy the situation. The mayor of Tinley Park called these actions ‘disgusting and evil,’ and I agree.
“I am disheartened to note that Republican incumbent Commissioner Morrison, who represents Tinley Park, has not yet joined me in denouncing these actions and making it known that elected officials are united against hatred. I hope he will act swiftly in joining me and other leaders from across the ideological spectrum to affirm that there is no place for the KKK or other hate groups in our communities.”
The 17th District of Cook County includes all or parts of municipalities within the townships of Bremen, Elk Grove, Lemont, Leyden, Lyons, Maine, Orland, Palos, Proviso, Worth and Riverside.
