DUIs Aplenty in Palos Heights: Blotter

Palos Heights police reports, August 25–Sept. 1.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 1

DUI

Alejandro Nakazawa, 27, of the 6100 block of LaGrande Court, Oak Forest, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit, following too closely and improper lane use after a Sept. 1 traffic stop, according to Palos Heights police reports.

Police pulled over Nakazawa at about 4:03 a.m., in the 6500 block of West 135th Street for weaving in out of traffic, the report stated. During the stop, Nakazawa failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, the report added.

At the station, Nakazawa submitted to a breath test, which registered a 0.113 blood-alcohol content, the report stated. The legal limit is 0.08.

Nakazawa was held on $1,000 bond, and his court date is Sept. 24.

MONDAY, AUG. 31

Handbag Stolen from Home

Electronics and a handbag were reported stolen from a home Aug. 31 in the 1200 block of 71st Court, according to Palos Heights police reports.

FRIDAY, AUG. 28

DUI

Albert J. Zuleger, 25, of the 13200 block of South Oak Hills Parkway, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a revoked license, driving without insurance and following too closely after an Aug. 28 traffic stop, according to Palos Heights police reports.

Zuleger was pulled over around 1:22 a.m., in the 13300 block of Ridgeland Avenue for making an improper turn and following another vehicle too closely, the report stated. During the stop, Zuleger admitted to police that he had been drinking, the report added. He also failed field sobriety tests before being taken into custody, according to the report.

Zuleger was held on $3,000 bond, and his court date is Oct. 8.

THURSDAY, AUG. 27

DUI

Samuel A. Onstott, 32, of the 2800 block of South Pulaski Road, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit and driving with improper lighting after an Aug. 27 traffic stop, according to Palos Heights police reports.

Police pulled over Onstott at about 2:39 a.m., in the 11900 block of South Southwest Highway for driving with a rear registration light that wasn’t working, the report stated. During the stop, Onstott failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, the report added.

At the station, Onstott submitted to a breath test, which registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.221, the report stated. The legal limit is 0.08.

Onstott was held on $3,000 bond, and his court date is Sept. 16.


DUI

Josue Flores Hernandez, 32, of the 9000 block of Kennedy Court, Orland Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit, driving without a valid license and improper lane use after an Aug. 27 traffic stop, according to Palos Heights police reports.

Hernandez was pulled over at about 4:19 a.m., in the 12500 block of South Harlem Avenue for improper lane use, the report stated. A background check by police revealed that Hernandez had never been issued a driver’s license, the report added.

Hernandez failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was taken into custody, the report stated. At the station, he took a breath test, which registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.121, the report added. The legal limit is 0.08.

Hernandez was held on $3,000 bond, and his court date is Sept. 24.

TUESDAY, AUG. 25

DUI Drugs

Sandy Liptak, 49, of the 14900 block of Hamlin Avenue, Midlothian, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and illegal use of an electronic communication device after an Aug. 25 traffic stop according to Palos Heights police reports.

Police pulled over Liptak at about 2:13 p.m., in the 7400 block of College Drive after she was seen using an electronic communications device while driving, the report stated. During the stop, the officer reported that Liptak slurred her speech, and her pupils were constricted.

Liptak told the officer she hadn’t been drinking but that she had taken prescription pills earlier, the report stated. Liptak also failed field sobriety tests at the scene, and she was taken into custody, the report added.

Liptak was held on $3,000 bond, and her court date is Oct. 8.


Warrant Arrest

Bailey D. Griffin, 20, of the 1200 block of Town Crest Drive, New Lenox, was arrested Aug. 25 on an active in-state warrant, according to Palos Heights police reports.

Griffin was held on $2,000 bond, and her court date is Sept. 24.
