Fake Bank Rep Cons Palos Hills Resident Out Of $1,600
The resident was advised to send $1,600 to a caller posing as a Chase Bank rep to clear up some pending transmissions, police said.
PALOS HILLS, IL — Palos Hills police are investigating a deceptive practice incident after a resident in the 8200 block of Millstone reported sending money to someone posing as a bank representative.
The resident said they were contacted sometime before June 14 by someone they believed to be a fraud investigator from Chase Bank. The caller advised her to send $1,600 to clear up some pending transactions in Pennsylvania.
Police said the resident complied. When she went to a Chase Bank branch for a follow-up, she was advised that it was a scam call.
