Fire Rips Through Worth Trailer Park: Photos and Video
Fire in a Worth trailer park displaces four mobile home owners.
WORTH, IL -- Fire crews fought back a blaze early Tuesday morning in a Worth trailer park that displaced at least four mobile home owners. The fire reportedly began in a vacant mobile home and spread to other nearby homes. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Illinois State Fire Marshall.
Officials from the North Palos Fire Protection District said the first call came in around 12:42 a.m. of a fire in a mobile home at 107th Street and Harlem Avenue in Worth. Fire crews arrived to find a fully involved blaze. One man had to be held back from going into his burning mobile home to rescue his mother's cat, but was able to get his mother, roommate and dogs out to safety. The blaze knocked down power lines as residents ran out of the way, according to photojournalists on the scene.
The blaze affected other nearby homes, which sustained melted siding and other damages. No injuries were reported.
