Golf Course Annexation Confirmed In Recent Ruling
An appellate court has upheld the previous ruling from the Cook County Circuit Court in the Sun Hill annexation case.

PALOS PARK, IL — An appellate court has upheld the previous ruling from the Cook County Circuit Court in the Sun Hill annexation case, and will not allow the subdivision to annex into Lemont. This ruling also confirms the annexation of the golf course properties, including MidIron and Cog Hill, into Palos Park.
Mayor of Lemont John Egofske said in a release the residents of the Sun Hill subdivision who wanted to annex to Lemont pursued this matter out of the desire to have their homes incorporated into the Village of Lemont. Egofske said the annexation request made sense for both the residents and the Village of Lemont, as the Sun Hill residents have long considered themselves part of the Lemont community.
However, this ruling ends the opportunity for the subdivision to be incorporated into the village, due to the current contiguity.

"Although unfortunate, annexation disputes between neighboring municipalities are fairly common. While we strongly believe our case has merit, it is often the nature of litigation that while two sides view the facts and the law in a light favorable to their position, the court ultimately sides with only one," Egofske said in a release. "We are disappointed in this outcome, as Lemont wished to support the Sun Hill residents who desired to annex their homes to Lemont."
Egofske added that the village board still needs to further evaluate options in this case, but they are looking forward to this case and other related litigation being behind us.

"The Village support of the Sun Hill residents’ annexation requests, that led to the litigation, was not
intended to be against the golf course owners personally," Egofske said. "We welcome the opportunity to work with these land owners and any others in their efforts to develop, live or do business within our community."
