Help Palos Park PD Solve Crime, Register Your Security Camera
Help Palos Park police solve future crimes by registering your home or business security camera in the confidential 'Block Watch' program.
PALOS PARK, IL -- Palos Park residents and business owners with outdoor security video cameras are invited to join the "Block Watch" program to help police solve neighborhood crimes. Registering your cameras in this program will let the Palos Park Police Department know that you're willing to share footage if police are investigating a crime in your area. The program is voluntary and completely confidential; residents or businesses will NOT be identified if their security video is used as evidence in a trial.
Police investigators have found when canvassing a neighborhood after a crime has occurred, that a home video system may have captured a picture of a suspect or vehicle. These images can provide a valuable lead that can aid in an investigation and may even lead to an arrest, such as last summer's unlocked vehicle thefts.
Block Watch is entirely voluntary. In the event a crime occurs in the neighborhood, police may ask residents to check their camera systems to see if they captured a picture that could help in a police investigation.
