Heroin Found in Uber Driver's Car: Prosecutor
Cops find heroin during traffic stop, prosecutors said.

Chicago Ridge, IL, May 9, 2016 -- Chicago Ridge police arrested an Uber driver after heroin was found in his car, prosecutors said.
Gary Stahr, 42, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

According to the charges, Stahr was pulled over May 8 after he blew a stop sign near 105th Street and Central Avenue in Chicago Ridge. Stahr allegedly gave officers consent to search his vehicle.
The prosecutor said officers found four baggies containing suspect heroin residue. Another bag of what is believed to be heroin was found in the vehicle’s center console, and two more bags of the same were found in Stahr’s wallet for a total of 2 grams.

The assistant public defender said that Stahr was a Sandburg High School graduate and worked part-time as an Uber driver.
Stahr has two prior drug convictions, including a current drug case from Ohio that is monitored in the Bridgeview Courthouse, the prosecutor said.
Judge Felice set bail at $100,000. He also ordered Stahr to undergo random drug testing should he bond out.
Stahr declined Judge Felice’s offer to be placed in a drug program in Cook County Jail.
Stahr’s next court date is May 25 in Bridgeview.
