Homeowner Thwarts Daytime Burglary Attempt in Palos Heights

A resident caught a burglar in the act and scared him off.

Palos Heights police are asking residents to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity, after an attempted home burglary Thursday afternoon.

Police were called Thursday around 1 p.m. to the 7700 block of Forest Hill Lane, after a homeowner caught an intruder trying to bust through a bedroom window into his home.

The resident heard a noise coming from the master bedroom, and spotted a white male, in his late teens or early 20s with dark hair, fair skin and a rounded face, who had opened the window and knocked in the screen. The homeowner shouted at the subject, who then fled on foot westbound from the scene. The subject did not make entry into the residence and nothing was taken from the home.
