Human Remains Recovered From Palos Park Retention Pond
Palos Park police recover the remains of a male about a mile west of where missing Chicago man John Cunningham Jr. was last seen on Oct. 30.

Palos Park Police recovered what appeared to be human remains of a male in a subdivision retention pond on Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to the 12700 block of Misty Harbour near 127th Street and Wolf Road, about a mile southwest of where missing Chicago man John Cunningham Jr. was last seen on Oct. 30, 2014.
Officers responded and found the human remains. The Palos Park Fire Protection District, Cook County Medical Examiner and Cook County Crime Scene processing unit were called to the scene, according to a news advisory from the Palos Park Police Department.

Cook County evidence technicians processed the scene and the remains were recovered by firefighters. The human remains were transported Palos Park police to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
It is not known if the remains found are those of Cunningham Jr. Palos Park Police said further forensic testing will be performed to help identify the remains to determine a positive identification and cause of death.

The results of the some tests could take several weeks, police said.
