Identity Sought Of Man Involved in Jewel-Osco Battery: Cops

The altercation had apparently started over a confrontation about a parking space at the Palos Park Jewel, police said.

PALOS PARK, IL — A man is his late 40s or early 50s, who they saw was captured on video punching another man early Wednesday morning at Jewel-Osco store at 9652 W. 131st St. in Palos Park, police said.

Police have released an image from surveillance video of a suspect in a battery. Chief Joe Miller, of the Palos Park Police Department, said the surveillance video showed two drivers arriving at the same parking spot. Words were exchanged and the man, whom the video showed getting beaten up, went into the store.

He grabbed a cart when the second driver arrived. More words were exchanged between the two. The second driver, described as an overweight white male in his late 40s or early 50s, began punching the other man. He eventually knocked the man to the floor, Miller said.

By the time officers arrived, the man had already left the store. Police ask are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
