Job Hunter Duped In Online Employment Scam: Police

The resident was sent a check by an alleged employer and instructed to send money to various people for "work related" expenses, police say.

PALOS HILLS, IL — A Palos Hills resident lost a lot of money in an online employment scam, reports said.

Police went to the 8500 block of 99th Terrace on Nov. 9 to speak to a resident regarding a deceptive practice. The resident had attempted to get a job online.

The alleged employer issued a check to the resident, who was instructed to send money to various people, stating it was for work-related expenses. The check issued was not valid and the resident’s money was lost.
