The Oak Lawn man was captured on video taking a check from a resident's mailbox and depositing it at a local bank, Palos Heights police say.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — Luis Campos, 35, of Oak Lawn, was arrested Wednesday after he was accused of stealing and forging checks in Palos Heights, Oak Lawn and Justice.
A resident reported to Palos Heights police that a check was stolen from their residential mailbox on Sept. 6 and deposited later the same day at a local bank. Video obtained from a neighbor’s doorbell camera captured a vehicle believed to belong to Campos near the home when the check was stolen, police said.
The suspect’s vehicle, noted for its distinct features, was tracked by a license plate reader to a bank in the 11800 block of South Harlem Avenue. Police said the plates were later determined to be stolen.
