Man Punched in Face

A man told claims an unknown woman punched him in the face while he was trying to call 911 to report her erratic driving and behavior, according to Palos Hills police reports.

The victim told police that at about noon Aug. 14, he was driving southbound on Harlem Avenue when a woman sped past him, then slowed down and began weaving in front of him, the report stated. The woman then slammed on her brakes near Harlem and 103rd Street, the report added.

At this point, the woman exited her car and started pounding on the victim’s vehicle, the report stated. An unidentified male brandishing a baseball bat also exited the woman’s car, the report added.

The victim pulled in to a gas station on Harlem Avenue and tried to call 911, the report stated. That’s when the woman walked over, punched the man in the face and fled the scene, the report added.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 12

Bad Check

A resident reported that a man claiming to be from Texas paid for a car and expenses to move it to the Lone Star State with a bad check, according to Palos Hills police reports.

The victim told police he was selling his car for $800 on Craigslist, the report stated. A potential buyer from Fort Worth, Texas, told the victim he would pay $1,950, which included the cost of the vehicle and the cost of transporting it, the report added.

The Texas man sent the victim a check for the money, and the victim then sent a money order to another party who would transport the car, the report stated. Several days after the victim deposited the check, his bank informed him it was fraudulent, the report added.
