Man Found Hiding In Garbage Enclosure Charged With Possession, Unlawful Use of Weapon: Prosecutors

Officers said Crestwood man had blood running down his arms and hands.

A Crestwood man was charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon after police found him hiding in a dumpster enclosure, prosecutors said in court on Wednesday.

Police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 0-60 block of Park Place in Crestwood around 10:30 p.m. July 14. Officers found Justin Spoon, 32, with blood running down his arms and hands.

Prosecutors said that Spoon appeared to be hiding something under the dumpster, where police later recovered a syringe, one lighter, a shoelace, a can and three small ziplock bags with suspect heroin residue.

Spoon admitted that he had used the items to shoot and cook heroin.

In addition, police recovered a prescription bottle with a worn out label containing 17 Xanax bars, and a switchblade, prosecutors said.

Spoon was given a $25,000 I-bond provided he had a place to live, electronic monitoring and is subjected to random urine drops. His next court appearance is August 6.
