Moraine Valley golfer solid as a rock at nationals

For his second consecutive year, Moraine Valley golfer Jeremy Fraser (Lincoln-Way North) hit the links May 21-24 at the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf National Championship—a feat only accomplished by two Cyclones. His consistency earned him a 73rd place finish out of 122 golfers.

Competing against other high-level golfers from around the country is no small challenge, but Fraser faced it with an even keel. He hit 77, 77, 77, and 78 at the Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro, Ala. Although he typically plays better in poor weather, the 80-degree days didn’t deter his strength and length off the tee and solid putting. “He consistently drove the ball 300 yards. I’m very happy with how he played,” said head coach Bob Freudenthal. “He’s had two great years at Moraine Valley and is only the second Cyclone golfer to go to nationals twice.”

Fraser competed with the Moraine Valley team at nationals last year where they finished 12th. He will attend Lewis University in the fall on a golf scholarship.
