Moraine Valley Plans Community Celebration for 50th Anniversary
Join Moraine Valley on Sept. 16 for a 50th anniversary community celebration featuring food, music, history and children's activities.

PALOS HILLS, IL -- Moraine Valley Community College is turning 50! To celebrate the college’s half-century mark, MVCC is throwing a community celebration that the whole family can enjoy on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 1 to 5 p.m. The party will take place on the Palos Hills campus at 9000 W. College Parkway. Admission is free and open to the public.
Food, fun, music, mascots and games are featured. A college historical memorabilia exhibit and a car show will also take place all day. Car enthusiasts wishing to display their cars are encouraged to register in advance. The rock band Starrs Karma is scheduled to perform from 1 to 2:45 p.m., and surf rock group the Real Gone playing from 3:15 to 5 p.m. on the Gateway stage. Kids can also get their mugs painted during the afternoon. Children’s activities also include Skiddles the Clown, a bounce house and crafts.
Food trucks and vendors, including Lucky Burrito, Doughs Guys Bakery, Fasano’s Pies and more will line the circle drive off the 111th Street entrance while various college departments host interactive activities for participants.

Car enthusiasts wishing to display their cars are encouraged to register in advance online. The early bird registration fee is $15 through Sept. 5; day of event registration is $20 (cash only). Registration fees will support automotive technology student scholarships. In the event of inclement weather, funds collected will be used for scholarships.

All activities will take place near the Gateway on the south side of campus. September 16 was chosen because that is the day the college first held classes in 1968. For more information about the car show visit Moraine Valley Car Show and register online.
