Moraine Valley repeats claim on Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference All-Sports trophy
It's time for bragging rights! Moraine Valley earned its second straight coveted conference All-Sports trophy.
It’s a repeat. For the second straight year, Moraine Valley has earned the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference All-Sports trophy following the 2015-16 season. This is the seventh time the Cyclones have earned the honor.
This trophy recognizes the collective achievements of a college’s sports teams. Each of the eight colleges in the conference is awarded points based on its teams’ finish at the end of the season. The colleges are then ranked with total point accumulations. The Cyclones’ women’s tennis, women’s and men’s soccer, women’s cross country, men’s golf, and men’s basketball teams each won titles. It was the first time in program history that women’s soccer won a Skyway championship. Women’s basketball and men’s tennis each finished second.
Moraine Valley first earned the trophy after their 2003-04 season. Since then, the Cyclones have won it six more times, more than any other college.

Winning the trophy is never any easier given the heightened competitive forces within the conference, but Moraine Valley battled for every win. Between the talented athletes, coaches and staff, the award was brought home again.
“It’s never easy to get this award year-in and year-out, but we have the perfect blend of athletes and coaches who make the difference. The competition just gets tougher every year so this really speaks to the kind of talent we have here at Moraine Valley,” said Moraine Valley Athletics Director Bill Finn. “Once again this award represents our athletic excellence and demonstrates how we help our students succeed on the field as well as in the classroom.”
