Palos Heights Cops Run Fourth of July DUI Patrols

Palos Heights police will be paying extra attention to the roads this Fourth of July holiday for buzzed drivers.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL -- Palos Heights police are planning a DUI crackdown over the Fourth of July holiday. As friends and family father to celebrate, police will be conducting extra patrols in an effort to stop drunk drivers. Seat belt violators will also be ticketed as part of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

Between 2011 and 2015, 39 percent of all vehicle crash fatalities in the United States involving alcohol-impaired driving occurred during the July 4th holiday. Other nearby communities will also be conducting extra patrols for impaired drivers over the upcoming holiday.

“This Fourth of July, don’t risk losing your life or your independence by drinking and driving. Help make everyone’s holiday in Palos Heights safer by driving sober,” said Sergeant Crowley.
