Palos Heights Homicide Victim Died From 'Multiple Gunshot Wounds'

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office has identified the victim in Monday's shooting in Palos Heights as 39-year-old Marud Talib.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL -- The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the man who was shot to death in Palos Heights as 39-year-old Murad Talib. Talib was gunned down late Monday afternoon. Palos Heights police do not believe the fatal shooting to be a random incident and say there is no threat to the community.

Police went to 7331 Ishnala Drive around 5 p.m. Monday for a reported shooting. Talib was found shot multiple times. Neighbors said they heard three shots coming from the vicinity of the house. Evidence placards were seen placed in the garage and driveway. The shooter is believed to have fled the scene in a vehicle. Police believe the shooter and Talib were acquainted.

Talib was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced deceased at 5:53 p.m., according to the medical examiner. An autopsy by the medical examiner attributed the cause of death to "multiple gunshot wounds." Talib’s place of residence is indicated by the medical examiner as the 17500 block of Drummond Drive in Tinley Park. Cook County tax records, however, identify a "Murad Talib" as the receiver for property tax bills at the Ishnala Drive address in Palos Heights.
