Palos Heights Police Warn of Daytime Burglaries in Oak Hills

Palos Heights police are urging residents to be vigilant, after a burglary in the 7800 block of Golf Drive, and an attempted burglary in the 13300 block of Oak Hills Parkway.

In both cases, a suspect attempted to pry open exterior doors, police said. In the attempted burglary, the homeowner discovered a man, described as Hispanic, attempting to pry open the front door of the home with an unknown tool. The suspect fled the scene when spotted, according to a release from police issued Friday. 

Both incidents occurred during daylight hours.

Residents should keep a close eye on their homes and property, as well as their neighbors’ and surrounding property. Residents should not hesitate to call police if they notice anything unusual, suspicious, or out of place in their neighborhoods.

Whenever it’s safely possible, residents should try to note descriptions of suspicious people, vehicles, and circumstances.

Police advise residents to take steps such as turning on lights, clearing snow, and removing mail or newspapers to make homes appear occupied. Keep valuables out of sight and home and vehicle doors locked.
