Palos Park, Palos Heights PD Take To Roof For Special Olympics

PALOS, IL -- Palos Heights and Palos Park police will be sitting on top of Dunkin Donuts shops in their respective communities to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois athletes. The Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run Cop On A Rooftop event runs from 5 a.m. to noon Friday, May 17.

Each guest who visits a Dunkin’ Cop on a Rooftop location and makes a donation to the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run will receive a free classic donut coupon. Guests who donate at least $10 will receive an Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run travel mug (while supplies last) and a coupon for a free medium hot coffee.

Palos Park police will be camped on top of both Dunkin' Donut locations at 130th Street and Route 45, and at Rt. 83 and Rt. 7 from 5 a.m. to noon.

Palos Heights police will be at Dunkin Donuts at 128th Street and Harlem Avenue. Officers will be staking out the roof from 4:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Last year, a mysterious anonymous donor in a Rolls Royce wrote out a check for $25,000 for Special Olympics at one of Palos Park PD’s Cop On A Rooftop stakeouts.

More than 310 law enforcement agencies in Illinois plan to participate in Friday’s Cop On A Rooftop events, with a goal of surpassing last year’s total of more than $871,000 raised. Visit Special Olympics Illinois for a complete list of participating police departments and Dunkin Donuts locations.
