Palos Park PD Will Focus On 'Fatal 5' Traffic Behaviors Memorial Day
Palos Park police will focus on five behaviors that cause fatal and serious-injury accidents during Memorial Day weekend patrols.

PALOS PARK, IL — Palos Park police, as well as other nearby communities, will be out in force patrolling streets and roads during the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. After two years of pandemic-induced social distancing, experts are predicting that this year will be one of the business holiday traffic weekends on record.
Officers will be maintaining the safe flow of traffic, as well as enforcing all traffic laws. They will especially be paying attention to the "Fatal 5," of the five major categories of driving behaviors that contribute to most fatal to serious injury crashes, including:
- Speed
- Occupant safety
- Lane safety
- Impaired driving
- Distracted driving
“The Palos Park Police Department hopes that we don’t have to see you this Memorial Day weekend, but that is entirely up to you,” said Chief Joe Miller, of the Palos Park Police Department. “We want you to get to your destination safe and sound, so obey all traffic laws.”
