Palos Park Police Distributing Free Bike Helmets to Kids

PALOS PARK, IL -- Does your kid need a bike helmet? Palos Park police will be giving out helmets to local children as part of the ProRider National Children-N-Safety program. The helmets are FREE.

“Head injuries and falls from bicycles are one of the leading causes of emergency room visits among children, especially during the summer months,” Palos Park Police Chief Joe Miller said. “Police hope that by issuring the helmets they can prevent head injuries to children riding bicycles.”

Wearing a properly fitted helmet can is the best way to prevent head injuries or death. The bike helmets are now available for pick up.
