Palos Park Police Increase Patrols, Offer Rides Home to Fourth of July Revelers

PALOS PARK, IL -- As many prepare for Fourth of July cookouts or head to the lakes and beaches, law enforcement agencies across the state are beefing up patrols — to monitor fireworks celebrations and ramp up traffic safety enforcement.
Palos Park police will increase patrols over the 4th of July weekend, with added police details from July 1 until July 5.
“The Fourth of July is known for its fun and fireworks, but motorist should also remember it can also be fatal if they don’t make the right decision,” Palos Park Police Commissioner Dan Polk said “Palos Park officers will be out to identify and arrest any motorist who is driving drunk or impaired.”
Be safe this holiday weekend, allow plenty of time to travel, put down your cell phones and don’t get behind the wheel if you have been drinking.”
National data shows that the 4th of July holiday period is especially deadly according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Palos Park Police will have additional officers patrolling between July 1 through July 5. If you are in Palos Park celebrating and have overindulged in holiday spirits, call the police and officers will make sure you find a safe way home.
